When I say this, I am assuming that these stats are at least ball-park correct, and not some curve conjured up by the Obama campaign. I am usually pretty silent on political issues, but this has made me pay attention. I will vote this November, and I believe the choice is clear. I say this not based on this little picture alone, but on the overall attitude and a shadow of the motives behind both Obama’s promises and McCain’s doubletalk.

Let’s look at something, then.

Regardless of the fact that McCain was altogether unsure of how many houses he owned a few days back, he repeatedly makes reference to how rich he is, and he has even gone so far as to throw a personal estimate of his measure of wealth into the ring, declaring that he considers someone to be “rich” when they have at least $5 million. Of course, McCain seems to lack the ability to keep his mouth shut at any given press-covered moment, and he is forced to atone for things he has said later. Whether or not he believed these things to be true at the time does not matter, as a candidate who can neither own up to his own bastardry nor control any wayward derrogatory thought from coming out of his big head is in no way a fit candidate for presidency!

That said, look at this picture! a 0.2% tax decrease for people who must have a hard enough time living on less than $18,000 a year, and who get the big 4.4% tax decrease? Why, rich, fat white guys like McCain! Conversely, Obama’s stepping out and bitch-slapping the fat cats with a promise of an 11.5% tax increase, while the poor masses get a relief of 5.5% decrease.

Clearly, this sounds great only on paper, and it is admittedly hard to point to any president who followed though on their pre-inaugural tax cut promises. Nevertheless, I feel very ashamed, afraid, and angry that McCain will probably win this election. Why do I say this? Because as much as I know it is a no-brainer to vote for the man with the best promises and the most professional demeanor, the bible thumping middle class republicans, who make up nearly half of this country, who will vote republican until the day of their death because their daddy and his daddy before him did, know that they want a surrogate Bush for another four years. After all, everyone is going to be against Obama in this campaign, because he makes the most sense. And to hell with sense! This is America, boy!

And I know I’m not supposed to use Nevertheless to start a sentence.

I’m currently reading this book. It’s amazing! if you haven’t read it yet then you should. Orwell’s mastery of language and narrative is astounding. I am being drawn into the world which he describes, and it’s not an exclusively sci-fi approach to the story. Think Fahrenheit 451 by Bradbury. there is no unneccesary explanation of the futuristic advancements, just enough to let you get a handle on an image, and the rest is a very cunning comment on modern society.

The interview is interesting, and the animation complements it perfectly. (via yewknee)

This is really interesting and fun to watch. I feel like now I’ve heard just what Lennon stood for in his own words, and not through the bias of any biography or secondary source. All the same, I still can’t help feeling that even he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, the years of drug use having something to do with the “profound whatever” he seems to be alluding to.
